INTEGRATED PUBLIC TRANSPORT

JOINED UP THINKING AT THE BUS STATION ?!
John Beanse, who was the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate in Chingford & Woodford Green, and is the Editor of North Chingford FOCUS, has been in dispute – again – with London Buses about Chingford Bus Station, Station Road, North Chingford.

Passengers travelling to the terminus on some routes are now required to alight at the stop on the other side of Station Road, opposite the bus station, and some of them can then be seen dicing with the traffic to get over to the bus station in order to board another bus!
John Beanse asked London Buses (who claim there is a safety reason why people should not alight in the bus station) to make arrangements so that buses could stop in the bus station and people could get off safely.
A typically curt reply in their latest letter says:
“Due to safety issues we will not be reversing our decision on this matter.”
John Beanse commented: “Is this what is meant by “integrated public transport”?! The whole situation is ridiculous. It ought to be possible to find a way for people to get off one bus safely and get on another one without problems surely!”

UPDATE: John Beanse is now pursuing the complaint with the London Transport Users Committee.
