PROBLEMS AT JUNCTION

THE CHARTER ROAD/CHINGFORD LANE, WOODFORD GREEN

Motorists have problems trying to come out of THE CHARTER ROAD in order to cross over and squeeze into the queue of traffic waiting at the lights at the end of CHINGFORD LANE (junction with the Woodford High Road).
Problems can be particularly acute at times when vehicles are dropping off or picking up pupils near Woodford County High School for Girls. The situation is not helped if attempts are made to do U-turns or 3-point turns at the end of The Charter Road!

FOCUS contacted the High School about the traffic problems and we were told that a school newsletter encouraged parents to consider public transport and “car-shares”. We were pleased to hear that the Headteacher would continue to raise the issue with the parent body.”
Problems in the area are noticeably reduced during school holidays! The latest edition of Hale End & Highams Park FOCUS (the local Lib.Dem. newsletter) urges parents of pupils here please to bear in mind local concerns.

Junction at the end of The Charter Road, in a quiet period of the day! Getting across Chingford Lane to line up by the lights (junction with Woodford High Road) can be a problem!
