EQUIPPING CHILDREN FOR LIFE
The focus of yesterday's Liberal Democrat campaign was the important issue of EDUCATION.
Liberal Democrats are ambitious for every child.
Key education priorities include:
Ø Giving children a flying start in life by helping their mothers with increased maternity pay
Ø Reducing class sizes in infant & junior schools, to give teachers more time with each child
Ø Cutting back on tests, teachers’ paper-work and statistics in schools
Ø Scrapping all student tuition fees, so that nobody is deterred from going to university by the fear of debt
Note: Local Liberal Democrat challenger John Beanse worked for many years in comprehensive schools, where he was at various times Head of House, Head of Sixth Form, Head of Dept. (Modern Languages); he is currently an examiner & tutor. He is also a governor of 2 local schools.
