POLICIES FOR FAMILIES LAUNCHED
Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy yesterday launched the party’s mini-manifesto for the family.
Among key policies are
* A reduction in class sizes
* An extension of pre-school and after-school care
* A children’s commissioner to safeguard children’s rights
* £170 per week for first-time mothers for the first six months if they choose to stay at home
